Overview of the Project
Balfour Beatty Communities is proud of its plan for family housing at Fort Bliss which began July 1, 2005.  Within the first 6 years of the plan:

477  existing homes will be demolished
1,708  new homes will be constructed
1,225  existing homes will be renovated 
2         community centers will be constructed
55       playgrounds/tot lots will be installed
1         sprayground water features will be installed
1         indoor sports facility and swimming pool will be constructed

Project Construction Status

The second phase of the 251 new Junior Officer home neighborhood of Corregidor (formally known as South Officers) is underway.  As of March 2008, 151 homes have been completed.  The first residents moved into the new homes in July 2006.

Construction of the second phase of the 405 new Senior NCO homes is well underway at Aero Vista.  As of March 2008, 357 new homes are completed.  The first residents moved into the new homes in August 2006.

New construction has begun on the Junior NCO and Senior NCO homes in the new neighborhood of Paso Del Norte Heights.  Once completed, this neighborhood will contain approximately 528 new single family homes, walking trails, tot lots, playgrounds and a large Community Center with swimming pool and basketball court. The first new homes were completed in April 2007.

The Kelly Park Community Center was completed in April 2007.  It houses the Balfour Beatty Communities leasing office, Army Family Housing office and contains an internet cafĂ©, resident meeting rooms, soda shop, an outdoor spray park water feature and access to the existing mini putt-putt.

Project Renovation Status

108s. Work began in existing homes in the 108s in September 2005  Work consisted of dry wall repairs and the installation of central refrigerated air/heating packages, energy efficient lighting packages, and fans in the living room and bedrooms.   All 108 homes in this neighborhood have recieved new central air, providing better comfort for our residents..

Van Horne.  Major repair work began in the neighborhood of Van Horne in September 2005.  As of March 2008,all 299 A/C units have been converted and 261 homes have received interior major repairs. Even though the Van Horne area is scheduled for demolition sometime in the future, Balfour Beatty Communities is going ahead with needed repairs, both interior and exterior, i.e. new roofs as needed, kitchen upgrades, ceiling fans, energy efficient lighting, new doors, wall texturing interior painting and bedroom carpet 

Logan Heights.  Installation of new central refrigerated air/heating packages in this neighborhood began in September 2005.  As of February 2007, all 448 homes have been completed.  In addition 47 homes have received major interior renovations consisting of new kitchen cabinets, new kitchen appliances, interior doors, energy efficient lighting, ceiling fans, carpet in the bedrooms, bathroom fixtures, wall texturing, interior painting, cable & telephone outlets throughout the home, new main electrical panel and landscaping.  The renovation work varies from home to home.

George Moore.  Minor renovation work began in the George Moore neighborhood in September 2005.  Minor renovations consist of new central refrigerated air/heating packages and energy efficient lighting.  All homes in George Moore have recieved new central air conditioning.

Hayes.  In October 2006, minor renovations consisting of new energy efficient lighting, renovations began.  All homes have been completed.

Pershing Heights.  Major renovations began in July 2005 in Pershing Heights.  The work done to these units include new kitchen cabinets and countertops, appliances, new carpeting in bedrooms, refinished wood floors, new electrical panel, new  electrical wiring, new cable TV and telephone wiring and new floor tile in the kitchen and bathrooms along with energy efficient lighting and HVAC refrigerated AC units.  Restorative work to windows, doors, gutters and woodwork, exterior landscaping and lastly, the interiors were freshly painted.  The renovation work varies from home to home. Tewnty five homes have been completed to date. 

Red Bricks.  Major renovations to the historic Red Bricks began in July 2005.  Such renovations include new kitchen cabinets and counters, new appliances, new carpeting in bedrooms, refinished hard wood floors, energy efficient lighting packages, and HVAC refrigerated AC units.  In addition, the interiors were repainted including the basements.  Renovation work varies from home to home.  All renovations have been made in keeping with SHPO requirements.  As of February 2008, 63 have been completed. 

Lindquist Heights.  HVAC system upgrades in Lindquist Heights began in January 2006.  The entire neighborhood of 189 homes have been completed. 

Upper & Lower Beaumont.  Installation of refrigerated air conditioning began in July 2006. We have completed 144 nonhistoric homes as of March 2008.
